WEST MOOR HOUSE FARM
THE FARM
The farm is situated on the north side of the Wharfe Valley, 2 miles from Ilkley in West Yorkshire. The farmland consists of 320 acres of marginal grassland and 540 acres of heather moorland. The land runs trom around 750 ft up to 1100 ft above sea level.
The staff consists of my Mum and Dad, Paula and Joe with my wife and I, Penny and Rob.
THE STOCK
The 2 main enterprises on the farm are suckler beef and sheep.
The cattle consist of a Pedigree Herd of Beef Shorthorn cows producing breeding stock and prime beef.
There are 4 sheep flocks.
The hill flock consists of 160 purebred Swaledale ewes producing replacement stock and prime lambs.
The inbye flock are mainly Texel X Mule ewes put back to Texel tups providing high quality butchers lambs.
All stock are traditionally grass reared with both beef and lamb available as freezer packs.
Two additional flocks of Greyface Dartmoor and Welsh Badger Faced Sheep have recently been added.
